Imprimante Brother DCP-7030
les drivers Mageia ne fonctionnent pas, ceux de Brother si.

De passage chez mon fils équipé avec la multifonction Brother DCP-7030 ( et Linux Debian) j'ai voulu imprimer à partir de mon portable (Mageia3 64bits).
Sitôt la Brother DCP-7030 connectée, la proposition d'installation m'a fait charger les drivers de la 7025 ...
L'installation facile est infructueuse:
Les fichiers envoyés sur l'imprimante sont perdus.
J'ai donc désinstaller comme j'ai pu et installé (facilement) les drivers pour la 7030 du site Brother :
brdcp7030lpr-2.0.2-1.i386.rpm ( qui apparement convient aussi en 64 bits)
brscan3-0.2.11-5.x86_64.rpm
cupswrapperDCP7030-2.0.2-1.i386.rpm
Une ligne supplémentaire apparait en première position dans les drivers Brother .
et tout semble fonctionner.
J'ai vu aussi sur le site un paquet de code sources pour compiler soi même son driver ?
J'ai essayé aussi avec mon EEEPC (Mageia 32bits) L'imprimante a bien voulu se lancer , le scanner n'a pas voulu fonctionner. J'ai sûrement fait une erreur.
Ces paquets datent de 2008 . Ce serait bien que les dev s'y intéressent pour rendre les configurations "Brother" plus faciles

Il y a beaucoup d'imprimantes et de pilotes différents, c'est beaucoup de boulot pour les devs sans compter les problèmes de droits (libre, propriétaire,...).

En qui concerne les pilotes d'imprimante Brother, il me semble qu'ils sont tous libre. Ne pourrait-on pas envisager de les incorporer directement dans la distribution ?

Je viens de faire un tour sur le site Brother par exemple pour l'imprimante multifonction GDP-7060D actuellement vendue en France.

il me semble que certains logiciels sont libres, par exemple cupswrapper mais pas l'essentiel des "LPR-driver":
Je fais souvent des contresens dans une phrases en anglais, mais une licence comme celle-ci complique la mise à disposition de drivers dans un distribution.
