Je sais que, ne faisant pas partie de l'équipe de développement, ne participant pas au forum officiel anglais, je n'ai rien à dire ou très peu sur le choix de tel ou tel logiciel, mais pourquoi avoir choisi Firefox et thunderbird dans leurs versions ESR.


Firefox ESR: Firefox ESR (Extended Support Release) 10.0.4 is shipped with Mageia 2, this new release brings with it a lot of improvements concerning all aspects of Firefox, for more info have a look at the Firefox 10.0.4 ESR release notes and you can read more about the ESR plan here. There will be no new versions (such as 12.0, 13.0 ...) but we will follow the ESR releases to provide more stability and less version changes for our users.

Thunderbird ESR: Thunderbird ESR (Extended Support Release) 10.0.4 is shipped with Mageia 2, this new release brings with it many improvements to all aspects of Thunderbird, the famous email client. Both the Enigmail and Lightning extensions are available too.

Ce qui empêchera, les utilisateurs et j'en fais partie, de bénéficier des dernières améliorations de mes deux principaux programmes. Pourquoi ne pas réserver des versions (ESR) à une distribution "entreprise" par exemple. Je me rend compte en écrivant ce message, que je reprochais déjà cela du temps de mandriva, mageia 1. Ne dit-on pas que "l’histoire n'est qu’un éternellement recommencement" ?


Ceci dit, mageia 2 est un superbe cru.
